For the East Side Memorial Project during the 2019 spring semester with Ryan Palider, I collaborated with my undergraduate colleagues and worked closely with the East Side community to understand their vision for transforming the memorial. Through community meetings and discussions, we gathered valuable insights to inform the design process, ensuring that the project resonated with local values and history. The collaborative nature of the project emphasized not only the integration of public input but also a deep understanding of the area’s cultural context. Our goal was to create a space that honored the past, supported future growth, and fostered a sense of unity and reflection for the community. The project was selected as part of the year-end show, showcasing the importance of community-driven design.
